Promotions are a key part of growing any business because they help attract customers and boost sales. But to get real value from them, it’s important to set them up correctly. In this article, we'll walk you through how to create a new promotion using the admin center, with straightforward steps to make sure your promotion works exactly the way you want.
To set up a new promotion, follow the path below:
Admin Center -> Promotions
On this page, you can view a list of all your existing promotions, if you have any.
Click on the New button at the top to create a new one. There are 2 types of promotions that you can set:
Percentage Type Promotions
Percentage type of promotions apply a discount based on a percentage of the original price. For example, a 10% promotion will reduce the price by 10% for eligible orders. This type of promotion is useful when you want to offer customers a proportional discount regardless of the order amount.
Promotion type: Select Percentage as the type.
Promotion code: Enter the promotion code that customers will use to redeem the discount.
Maximum promotion amount: Specify the highest discount amount that can be applied for this promotion, regardless of the calculated value.
Active: Choose whether you want this promotion to be active and available for use or not.
Date range: Set the start and end dates during which the promotion will be valid to use.
Vehicle Types: Select the vehicle types to which this promotion will apply.
Active for first orders: Enable this option if you want the promotion to apply only to customers placing their first order. You can also specify the N First Orders value, which limits the promotion to apply only to the first N orders placed by a customer.
For example, if you set 3, the promotion will be active for the customer’s first three orders only. After that, the promotion will no longer apply to their subsequent orders.
Percentage: Enter the discount rate as a percentage to be applied to the order total. It should be a number between 0 and 1. For example, 0.1 means a 10% discount.
Distance-Based Promotions
Distance-based promotions let you set discounts based on how far the delivery is. You choose a fixed distance where a certain discount applies. If the delivery goes farther than that, you can add an extra discount for the extra distance. This helps you manage discounts for both short and long deliveries, so the discount matches the delivery distance.
Promotion type: Select Distance-based as the type.
Fix distance: This is the baseline distance up to which a fixed promotion amount applies. For example, if you set this to 5 kilometers or miles (based on your setting), the promotion is fixed for any delivery distance up to 5 km.
Amount until fixed distance: The discount amount applied to deliveries within the fixed distance set in the Fix Distance field.
Extra distance promotion amount: Specify the discount amount to be applied to orders with a distance beyond the fixed distance you’ve set.
