How to create a working type for drivers

Learn how to create driver working types, set up earning models and commissions, and control what information drivers can see.

Updated over a week ago

Driver working types define how financial interactions between drivers and the company are structured and displayed. Each working type includes two main components: the Earning Model, which determines how drivers are paid (such as commission-based, fixed amount per order), and the Data Presentation, which controls how order and earning details are shown to drivers. Creating a new working type allows you to set up flexible payment structures and data displays that match your operational needs.

To create a working type, follow the path below:

Admin Center -> Settings -> Driver Setup -> Working Types -> New button

Now, depending on your payment arrangement with drivers, you can refer to one of these 3 settings:

Note: Driver payment for the P&D order type is not handled automatically in the system. The earnings set in the working type currently only apply to the on-demand order type, so they will not appear in the drivers’ transactions or wallet for P&D orders and need to be managed outside of the system.

Commission-based payment

If your drivers work on commission, you should configure the settings to calculate their earnings as a percentage of each order and set the setting this way:

  • Name: Enter a name for this working type.

  • Description: Provide a short description to identify its purpose or usage.

  • Earning Model: Choose the earning method. For commission-based payment, select Commission.

  • Minimum Driver Balance: Set the minimum balance a driver must have before going on duty and receiving orders. To allow drivers to go on duty regardless of balance, set this value to a negative number.

  • Withdraw Transaction Fee: Set the charge applied every time a driver withdraws money from their account.

  • Withdraw Threshold: Set the minimum amount a driver must have in their wallet balance before they can request a withdrawal.

  • Orders Tab Search Radius (meters): Specify the distance within which drivers can view available orders.

  • Order Completion Radius: Specify the distance from the delivery destination within which a driver is allowed to mark an order as completed. This ensures orders are only marked delivered when the driver is close enough to the correct location.

  • Commission Coefficient: This field sets the percentage of the company's commission (income). Only when the earning model is commission-based is this value provided. Examples of this work are provided below.

If the driver earns 60% of the order price, the Commission Coefficient, which should be set for the company, must be set as 0.4 (40%).

    Example:

    • Order Price: $10

    • Commission Coefficient: 0.6

    • Driver Earnings: $6

    • Company Commission: $4

Fixed amount per order

In this payment model, drivers earn a set amount for each order they complete, regardless of the order’s total price. If your drivers work on a fixed amount per order, you should configure the settings to specify this amount for accurate earnings calculation.

  • Name: Enter a name for this working type.

  • Description: Provide a short description to identify its purpose or usage.

  • Earning Model: Choose the earning method. For a fixed amount per order payment, select Manual.

  • Default Earning: Set the fixed amount a driver will earn for each completed order. This ensures that every order pays the same, regardless of its total price.

Employees or Salary-Based Driver

In this model, drivers receive a fixed salary or wage, regardless of the number or value of orders they complete. If your drivers are salary-based, you need to configure the settings as described in this article and manage their payments outside the system.
