What is POP?

Learn about Proof of Pickup (POP) using signatures, photos, or notes to confirm package collection, ensuring secure and efficient delivery.

Updated over 2 months ago

Proof of Pickup (POP) is an essential process for verifying that a package has been successfully collected by the driver. It helps ensure accountability, transparency, and accuracy in the delivery process. POP can be captured through various methods, including obtaining digital signatures, taking photos, scanning a barcode, or adding brief notes via the driver app. By requiring POP, businesses can maintain a reliable record of package pickups and minimize disputes.

Components of POP

To learn how to enable or require POP for a service, read this article.

Signature

A signature is one of the most reliable forms of Proof of Pickup. It confirms that the sender—or an authorized representative—has handed over the package to the driver. Using the Driver App, drivers can collect the sender's signature digitally at the time of pickup, providing clear, trackable confirmation that the item was received and dispatched correctly.

Photo

Drivers can capture and upload one or more photos at the time of pickup. This visual confirmation supports transparency and can be used for record-keeping or dispute resolution.

Barcode

At pickup, drivers can scan the barcode on the package using the Driver App.

Notes

In some cases, additional context may be needed. The Driver App allows drivers to write brief notes during the pickup, for example, noting who handed off the package, any special conditions, or packaging concerns. These notes are saved with the POP record.
